He is also the only person, not just on the forum but globally, who has seen television in Canada and doesn't think it's crap. That's beyond outlier and casts doubt on the compatibility of his other views with those of the remainder of humanity.

I live in BC, I and others describe where they live and the folks can make their own judgement, if they are sensible by visiting the target area that they might like.

People in BC are not trying to put other places down, other Provinces would be way more suitable for a lot of folks. Put your big boy pants on Steve, it isn't a competition and you often seem piqued that we describe our province in glowing terms. Perhaps that is because it is IMO a great place to live.

I am a tad surprised about your comments about retirees from BC moving to Calgary. The flow seems to me to be the reverse- the area here is full of retirees from Calgary, new neighbours are from Grand Praerie. Maybe you mean that people from Prince George and Prince Rupert retire in Calgary.. I seriously doubt many others would consider the move, why would they?
Again in the Summer, the Calgarial playground certainly extends to the Shushwap and the Okanagan.
As I have previously agreed the Okanagan does sometimes get cloudy in the Winter- but as the Ski hill is only 20 minutes away, that is easily remedied by spending your free time above the clouds having fun.

Be constructive, help future immigrants by singing the praises of Alberta rather trying to denigrate other provinces, I am sure that they would really appreciate it:cool:

My only beef with Steve is his current avatar, I think it's Steve Coogan, but it's a really annoying picture.

Well, I can't find anything incorrect his commentary. Except maybe his DBD-esque jibe at Victoria.

Yes it might be Justin. Especially as he used to have the parliament as avatar (I think). Just that horrendous goatee that, even in irony, grates somewhat.

Seriously. He was just pointing out that BC is not the be all and end all of Canadian provinces, and that Alberta is a decent place to live too.

It comes across as a bit more than that, to be fair.

Also to be fair it's not so much BC as Vancouver.

And while Vancouver does tend to be bigged up, so does the premium involved in living there. $150k to $200k income for a couple to live there and afford to eat out?

Lancastrian is fantastic, great view. Yes its expensive in Toronto but its a way better value of life compared to the 100 miles an hour lifestyle of London. I've been here 10 years and love it.....apart from not being able to jump on a cheap flight and nip over to the mediterranean for a cheap hols. Summer very hot, winter very cold, but adapt! little spring and fall but fall is a fantastic part of the year!
If you want expats then Oakville, Burlington has it's fair share but property prices are expensive......doesn't help with the pound at these levels either

That's just personal taste. Neither right nor wrong. Some decent American TV exists. Plenty of crap on UK TV, no shortage whatsoever.

I think it's the way it's expressed. Plus Steve's habit of popping in every few days, dismissing opinions of others while giving the benefit of his wisdom and then disappearing again. It comes across as a bit annoying.

There's a lot of great American TV. It usually finds it's way onto British TV while there's a lot of great Brit TV that doesn't find its way onto North American TV.

There's a lot of great European TV that also finds its way onto British TV that either doesn't find its way onto American TV or gets remade to save the poor dears the trouble of reading subtitles. :p
