Default Problems with the post office

Has anybody else had problems this year with parcels not arriving?

My sister mailed two parcels - just children's toys etc. - from Tonbridge at the beginning of December - neither of them have arrived yet. I also ordered a Italian charm on ebay. The seller lives in Manchester and she says she mailed it on November 28th and I believe her. This has not arrived either.

Also, my sister mailed some children's gifts from Vancouver to Somerset at the end of November. These have not arrived.

What is going on? I have never before had things go astray in the mail. We intend to complain both ends - but I know what they will say - the Canada Post will blame Royal Mail and vice versa.

We have a terrible time with post this year -- US/UK/Canada. I think it's an international problem.

Canada post was returning packages which did not conform to Int'l standard, by having the return address on the top right of the package.

A package from my sister in London took about 3.5 weeks to arrive this year. Sounds about normal.

Funny you have said that. My mother in law mentioned she had sent a parcel before Christmas and it still hasn't arrived and she hasn't had it returned. That said she posted it 'surface' mail so I'm expecting it around July
If its 'surface' mail...will it get wet???

How can Canada Post return packages with no return address??

As you know, its not even now the custom for people in the UK to put return addressed on anything much.

we've had terrible problems this year too. sending from Ashford, Kent (near Tonbridge) to ontario.

it appears that every parcel we sent (about 10 in total) where opened, checked and re-sealed at customs and 1 has gone missing completely - the most expensive one of course...

i gather the problem is not here, but over there (or at least thats what the postman said...)!

I'm also waiting for a package that was sent on Nov. 12th!! It was sent from Montreal to Perth, Australia.

On the other hand, I received an Ebay delivery today from the UK that was sent on Jan 6th...go figure...

It MUST be Canada Post. Bloody slow!

Top right? Isn't that where the stamps go? I put the return top left on a letter or on the reverse of a package.

I'm still waiting for a package sent Dec 5th from the same neighbourhood as me in Glasgow. On the other hand I got a letter from Washington DC franked Jan 3rd only three days later.

I moved to Arizona from Toronto.. we didn't get any of our presents or cards on time because the post man didn't "recognize" our name and threw all our stuff in a bin to be "sorted later"

sooo frustrating!!

I mailed all my presents back to canada on dec. 6th and they took minimum 2 weeks sometimes longer... not sure why as I know it's a direct flight

Have had nothing but problems with mailing packages to Canada since 1998. Not one package to my husband's son and stepson have been delivered to him in Halifax regardless of whether we mailed it from New York or from Montreal. Even if sent with insurance the packages never arrive. We had taken to sending gift cards for the grandson for Toys R Us and a check to the son in place of actual presents. Just mailed up a homemade computer ... via UPS ... on the custom's slip it was marked homemade computer, plus cost and clearly marked GIFT ... the son still had to pay custom's tax on it.

My daughter, who is an artist and sells on furbid and ebay, will no longer send to Canada as her work has been declared porno by customs in Quebec. Don't get me started.

You know Canada post... they'll find a reason and just return it to the UK..

It’s probably sitting back in a UK sorting office with only a Canadian address and Canada post refusing to accept it...

While all that stuff hasn't arrived, just after New Year's I was checking out cottages to stay in Kent and I asked for a catalogue. That arrived yesterday so where are all the packages that people airmailed a month ago?

Incidentally, if anyone is interested in cottages in Kent - this place is based in Cranbrook.

http://www.freedomholidayhomes.co.uk/index.shtml

I found cottages for £360 a week, which really if they will sleep four people is not expensive - £90 a week per person!
