You're right - my experience is with the Separate system.

I do know that in the Separate System there's lots of maternity leaves!

One way to get in is to start by subbing (substitute system), and go for short term contracts first. Or do a sh!t job. Or teach French, Math (no S over here!), music, or science.

Problem with the CBE is getting your foot in the door in the first place.

If you don't get hired after your interview for whatever reason, not just because you interviewed badly but because they weren't hiring many new people that particular year.

You have to wait two years before you can reapply. Stupid rule that they stick to religiously (no pun intended).

I know of a friend who is a teacher who is now living in vancouver moving from UK a year ago and is having to sit a years conversion course not sure how it works here in alberta though
