Default PR Card Renewal.

It only took two weeks

I must admit this wasn't the level of service I was expecting which was more like two months (if I was lucky). Is this some kind of record?

Mrs Rich got a new one a couple of weeks ago. Hers took 6 weeks to arrive.

Brown envelopes pffft so yesterday I told you to just wire the money into my offshore account seems to be the new way.
Pretty impressive service even for CIC I must say.

How do you go about renewing your PR status? I have 2 years left on mine but I'm wondering what is involved in the renewal process i.e. do I have to re-submit the mountain of paperwork it required first time round OR is it much simpler?

I have trawled through the wiki and can't find anything on the subject.

Thanks.

Summary: it's much simpler. From what I remember the hardest part was the list of travels in the last five years, but fortunately I'd already had to do most of that for the citizenship application.

Mine arrived yesterday, taking pretty much the time the site said it would take.

The application and submission of information was easy. The collection of new cards not so easy.
We had to collect them in person in Kelowna on a Tuesday between 10-12 or 2 -4. There were absolutely no alterations to this rule. I have now heard the Kelowna office is being shut down so god knows where future PR renewals will be done but it may well mean a trip to Vancouver or worse Calgary.

The other thing that surprised me was we had to take current passport and previous one if renewed in last 5 years and various other forms of ID even though we were there in person and they had our old cards and finally we had to take the COPR form that was originally stapled in the passport when landing, this she told me was the most important thing and had to be kept safe at all times as it was like our Canadian "birth certificate" I truly thought i had lost these bits of paper but thankfully not so keep them safe.

It seems painfully long, our renewal application was returned because I neglected to write the date the photo was taken on the back of the photos, my bad, everything else was in order. It took them 6 weeks to return the package.

Fortunately CostCo now do PR photos, so a quick trip down there and then send the whole package back. Probably be another 6 weeks before we hear anything and my wife has to travel at the end of October, we're cutting it fine.

I wouldn't mind but we have had our citizenship application in for 2 years already and I was hoping we could avoid this renewal...
