TBH I don't really get this east/west fixation people have about Toronto. The west offers much the same as the east, less alcohol of course because the west was "dry" in my memory and it's taken a while to get established, but, if posing is your thing, Queen West-west offers as many opportunities as Queen East. High Park offers much the same as Riverdale Park, albeit with a commute. I could visit the west if pushed to do so, dullness isn't the worst feature a neighbourhood could have.

We landed in October and chose to stay at the Staybridge Suites in Oakville/Burlington. Breakfast buffet was included, bacon, sausages, hash browns, eggs, pancakes, waffles, fruit, yogurt, toast, bagels, you name it as much as you could eat!!! We had a one bedroom suite with lounge for us and the 2 kids with 2 queen beds, 2 TV's and a kitchen. During the week the hotel do managers evenings, whilst we were there we had free pizza one evening and stir frys another, etc all included in the price, saved on eating out, only had to find lunch! The laundry facilities are free too and it has a pool. They are really friendly, just check out the TripAdvisor review. The Go-Transit train stop at Bronte is a 10 minute'ish walk down the same road the hotel is on and takes you into Downtown, runs about every half hour or so. My OH used it a lot to go for interviews, can't remember how long it takes, maybe 30-40 mins? But driving down the Queensway was pretty busy and often stationary at certain times of the day.
