Hi ALL,

I guess this has been asked a million times already but is it possible for someone to get a job offer from Canada before actually arriving there?

I did it and many others on here did too. I don't think I would have moved unless I was sure of full time employment.

Of course, it depends on what skills you have and what you can bring to the job. For a trade/profession/career in demand I would say it's very possible BUT, regrettably, for most things it's better to have feet on the ground in Canada first.

Agreed, I did actually come over for the interview with my future employer. Set your goals to a realistic level, it could get pricy flying over for several interviews over the year for jobs you aspire to but are not qualified for.

I was offered a job before I landed and as Magnumpi said a lot of people on here did BUT also a lot who didn't and some who landed and struggled to get a job.

I would agree that a lot of it depends on your skillset / experience but from what I'v seen since being here 12 months the majority of jobs are more from who you know and networking.

I actually was interviewed over Skype, completed an online occupational questionnaire and then 2 more Skype interviews and was then offered the job - no 'real' face to face interview. I wouldn't recommend this to everyone and not many companies would do it like this I suspect but it's working out OK for me most things.

I would say using Linkedin to network is a good way to start and polshing up your resume and just start connecting. I would say from my intial research there are opportunitys that are not advertised and you will only find out if you put yourself out there so to speak

It's possible, but some don't, depends how you go about it and your skill set. Some struggle to find a job from overseas and after they arrive.

Yes it is as others have done it.
Now without knowing if you have ever visited Canada it sort of begs the reverse question of taking a job in a country you know nothing about as opposed to moving here without a job.
Canada is huge and each Province or Territory is unique.
Lets say you are a bus driver and qualified to drive in Canada.
Driving a bus in Vancouver is certainly different to driving a bus in Yellowknife or Thunder Bay.
Personally having done the move without a job (spousal sponsorship) there is no way I would move to a different country again without visiting it first and doing lots of research.
Lets just say there are lots wanting to move to Vancouver but not Yellowknife or even Thunder Bay.
