Hi Guys
Do you like that just trying to be Canadian.
On a more serious note which port of entry will my container go to if going door to door with a final address in Burlington Ontario, just wondering which customs office I will have to go to with the release papers. Thanks

Your port of arrival for the container will be Montreal. You will clear your goods at Toronto Customs on Front Street. The Dixie one will not clear area 495 Customs area goods. You could go to the airport to clear, but believe me the boys and girls at Front street are nicer and more helpful.
Let me know if you need any more help.

The port of arrival is of little relevance. When we arrived, in Oakville, we were sent to the customs office in Oakville. It was shut because the bloke was sick. The shippers then told us to go to Dixie. The nasty little tosser behind the desk wasn't happy about it but did clear the shipment. Eventually.

Our experience was that container was shipped to Montreaul, then onto Toronto. From there we were contacted and advised that it would be taken to local customs office in Peterborough, then right to our front door. took approx one hour to unload it. Then the container was gone. It was funny now thinking of it. When we went to the Peterborough office the lady behind the desk was looking through our paperwork halfway through she got a phonecall and her first words after Hello was oh no! our hearts sunk, my husband and I both thought what have they found! but it was okay it wasn't about us. She stamped the paperwork and off we went. took all of 15 minutes.

If u r lucky the customs officer might even fax the stamped document to the shipper so u dont have to go back to their office.....then u just hand over the original stamped copy to the delivery guys when they bring your goods to the house. :-)

We didn't have to do anything involving paperwork and the delivery guys ( who are just that delivery people)
You go to front street , they phone the moving company to release the goods, your goods get delivered.

The customs officer must have stamped something that the delivery company holds on their files to show it was done in accordance with Canadian import policy?

We had our stamped GTF list and the inventory from the packers that we took to front street. There was another form we had to fill in , mostly about if we were importing weapons etc.
We filled that in , don't remember what happened to it. Then the very nice lady at front street called our movers , gave them a ref number or summink to release the goods.
Any paperwork that we were left with she said we could shred as we would never need it again.
