I live in rural NS and was considering the polce as a change to career option. However, when I looked on the website, it said I had to be prepared to move anywhere in Canada. I don't want to move, so I went no further with it!!

Am I looking in the wrong place?, advice would be appreciated!
If you go RCMP, then yes, you could be sent anywhere in the country. Having said that, they consider things like kids, owning property somewhere etc, a single guy with no ties or property to sell is a lot easier (and cheaper) to place.

Rural NS does not have a huge RCMP presence and would be much harder to get back there. BC has something like one third of the force so easier for someone being hired out of BC who wants to go home. However, if you were prepared to go anywhere for about 5 years, you would have a very good chance of getting back to NS. My troop mate was sent way up north but ended up in the Halifax area after a few years.

In BC, I could spend my entire career at the detachment that I'm based at if i wanted and its not a case of that one day someone is going to tell me i'm being sent the middle of nowhere, people would quit.

Other option is the Halifax Police Service which is a municipal force.
