Default police reports

Hi
My husband and I are currently completing our application for immigration to Canada and have a couple of questions on police reports.

1) Does anyone know if you need a police report for a gap year 'working holiday'. When I was 18 I went to Australia for a year but never really had an address as such as I was mostly on holiday.

2) Is a separate police report required for postings whilst in the british army.

Any information would be greatly appreciated )
The sooner we can get this done.............the sooner we can go

Thanks in advance
Looly

Hello there,

I stand corrected on this. To try and answer your question, the application does say police report from all countries you lived in from the age of 18, for more than 6 months. Here is a case study for you from someone on this forum: The person is from the UK, lived on the continent for a while, but didn't register with police whilst they were there, now immigration canada is saying they are going to return the forms, unless a police cert from that country is provided.

The lesson here, do not mention it to them, if you didn't register in that country, and have no way of obtaining a cert from there, it will only complicate things for you. Just say you have always lived in the UK, and scotland yard will provide you a cert from their records, what they have on you.

A record of all your postings abroad from the ministry of defense will help your case and any problems that might arise. Since you were serving in those countries for the govt, you couldn't well go into a police station and register.

There is always advice from the experts in the canada immigration forum, you might want to post this there too.

I would check on the immigration newsnet "forum"

I believe that you have to at least try and get the Oz certificate, if you had "sinned" while there, they would have a record. So the clearance should come back saying they have no record of you. You cant just ignore the trip.

I think from memory that you also need a seperate Miltary Police statement as well.

As I said, check with the resident experts on the usenet group, they deal with this kind of stuff all the time and know the ins and outs.

Thank you for both of your replies.

I didn't realise there was a separate 'immigration' forum so have posted the question on here as well.

I think in light of your responses though it is worth getting an Australian police report (and see if my husband can get a Military police report). I will now just have to find out how!

Thanks again
Looly

Thanks for that, much appreciated.

If you are able to get that address as well even better.

Cheers again
Looly
