Anyone know what NO LIVE TRACE means on police certs?

I've never been arrested, cautioned or anything in my life so can imagine my shock at opening certs to find this info and office closed as it's Saturdsay.

Any help greatly appreciated as am in bits at the moment,

There have been a few of these on here lately - supposed to mean there is a record in existence but a few people, like you, have queried it. Sounds like there is an error. Hope you get this sorted out.

Looked on ACRO web site for info and spoke to Essex Police who asked about juvenile convictions. I've never been arrested or convicted of anything.

Surely if you were cautioned, reprimanded or on a record somewhere you would have to be told about this! I've also got a CRB for my job.

The ironic thing is I'm probably the most law abiding citizen I know, won't even watch a bogus DVD. In fact my family take the micky out of me because of this!

Some of my best friends are coppers.

Got to wait till Monday to call ACRO as they are shut, but will let you know how I get on.

Same thing happened to me. It was in the news the other day that they made on average 7 mistakes a day and paid out some serious compensation to people who had failed to get jobs due to incorrect records being sent to potential employers.

Mine got corrected quickly but it did put our application back a couple of weeks (not to mention cause some serious stress). I'll see if I can find the link to report.

Does this include ACRO checks for immigration or just CRB or do they come under same thing? I already have a clear CRB for my job as a teaching assistant. That was obtained about three years ago.

Thankyou it's very strange how everything turns from such a long standing plan to a sudden realty

I'd of thought ACRO people access the same database as CRB lot. I'm subject to an 'Enhanced CRB' due to the nature of my work, perhaps the ACRO digs a bit deeper. I read this article early last year re ACPO of which ACRO is a subsidiary:-

"Boosting this annual surplus are a number of ACPO subsidiaries which sell ‘police’ services. It recently set up ACRO – the ACPO Criminal Records Office – which sells so-called police certificates which reveal whether someone has a criminal record.

Headed by retired Hampshire Deputy Chief Constable Ian Readhead, who has a £50,000 contract with ACPO, it provides the documents required by people applying for visas to work or live in the United States, Australia, New Zealand and Canada. Until now visa applicants could obtain these details by making what was known as a ‘subject access request’ to the police. The maximum charge for these requests was £10.

But according to the US Embassy, ACPO approached them and offered to provide their own criminal record certificates. These are now the only documents acceptable for visa applications. Under the new system, applicants fill out an online form and receive a statement about whether or not they have a criminal record.

According to the National Police Improvement Agency, which runs the Police National Computer, ACPO is charged 60p for each search.
However, ACPO charges the public up to £70 for its ‘premium service’, while its standard service – which takes ten days – costs £35.

Last year ACPO received an income of £197,633 from the service, which is not available from any other agency. It says its charges are reasonable because the service involves ‘additional processing elements including photography processing and a full report prepared for each application’."

I phoned them and explained what had happened to a couple of people. One called me back the next day and basically asked me if I had been involved in a firearms offence in Otley (never been there in my life), arrested for drugs in Lincoln and another one I can't remember (same principle), answer was no for each. Okay she says, new certificate will be rushed out to you and really sorry for the trouble. Normally they want the original incorrect certificate back but as I was in Canada could I please destroy it! Easier than expected but I understand it making you feel sick. the implications are huge but it will get sorted once you talk to them.

Took some stick from Mrs B91212 (didn`t know I`d married a criminal etc) and workmates (man on the run!).

Wow, so they just took your word for it then, no fringerprints to rule you out or anything. Sounds like they knew they had messed up when they asked you those questions!

Hope I get mine sorted out as quick. I haven't even told my OH yet, he's in India on a business trip, why worry him. My dad thought it was very funny though, if you knew me you would understand why

Just an update to let you know that after a very stressful weekend I spoke to Acro this morning and someone rang me back an agonising hour and 45 minutes later to apologize for the misprint on my certificate!

They are sending a new one which I should receive tomorrow and said I could dispose of the incorrect one. What a relief.
