Toronto
Good: Diversity, you can buy any kind of food, raw or cooked from a native of the country of the cuisine.
Bad: Traffic, it's a shitty place to get around and worse to get into or out of. Ugliness. Air quality.
Ottawa.
Good: lovely in June.
Bad: dull, cold in winter, buggy in summer.
Oshawa.
I trust you're joking.

Hmmm Toronto just seems like a less beautiful London so I've been looking at nearby towns. What's wrong with Oshawa?

What do you recommend for a 24 year old? Looking to meet new people, make friends etc in the whole of CA?

I wasn't thinking of getting a qualification. The question was how to "meet new people, make friends in the whole of Canada" (I assume Canada rather than California). I can't think of another way to meet lots of people from across the country.

There are actually some really nice areas in Oshawa. Housing is cheaper, the GO train goes to downtown and lots of people commute. It isn't just GM. There are lots of areas nearby to visit and there is a direct route up north if you want to go "cottaging".
I would prefer it over the west side of the city, or the much praised Beaches where you can't even park outside your own house. Most people on here who criticise it have never got off the 401 so haven't even been there.
I don't live in Oshawa but my youngest daughter goes to school there and has lots of friends who live there (and none of them are rednecks!!)

Thanks Gail. Is there much work there or is it just a one industry place?

We live in Ottawa, it's a lovely town but I would rather class it as a "family town". Loads of stuff for kids etc.
Have you thought about Montreal (I know it's Quebec
)
Good pub/bar nightlife
