We have 3 parents surviving, all early 80's. It's a big worry that we'll be leaving them in failing health, but for us and the boys, its the right time to go.

This is exactly my problem, Dad has just had his 90th, mum is nearly 79, and age is starting to catch them up. But the time is just so right for us 4 as a family. (children 6 & 4, hubby wanting a new challenge at work) I do feel very guilty and want to be there when my parents need me, god knows they have always been there for me! but, I also want a good life for my children and us! I sometimes feel like I am being pulled in two .

Seriously ... I hope your Dad feels better ... it's stressful for parents when kids move away, not matter how old the kids are ...
Thanks. Actually I'm seriously worried that the dragon (mother-in-law) will follow us out there!! :scared:

She has no other kids and hubby's dad died a couple of years ago. Mine promise to visit, if they are well enough, but I have various brothers here, so they do have some support at home. I doubt they'd come, but we'll see!

Nah... I just turn on a Montreal webcam ...LOL.

Actually, we do get snow in the *wait for it* SNOWY mountains near Canberra. Not heaps really but enough to ski & snowboard etc..

So far, I haven't really missed the white stuff but I've only been here 10 months. It's still holiday time where I'm amazed to be able to go to the beach and boogie-board every day!

I'm a physio btw, and plan to be working in the Calgary area when we get there, this summer/fall if all goes well!

Me too.......excited and scared ****less! It'll be "this year!" any minute now!!
Are we doing the right thing? Its such a humungous thing to do, but we felt so right in Canada, I can't wait to get back.

Main fly in my ointment atm, is elderly parents. Dad started having cardiac arrythmias yesterday, and was going for an ECG today to see what's happening

sigh.
Hi Morwenna,I can sympathise ( not sure about spelling ) about the elderly parents. My mum is 78 but very fit. I still feel really bad about leaving her here although we did ask if she wanted to come too :scared: I do have a brother and sister so they can do their bit.
We are going summer/autumn 2005 if all goes well, on a temporary visa coz i don't have enough points yet. Hopefully can apply for PR after a year. I've only been to Canada once for 4 days but like you it felt right.
