To anyone living in the Perth area'
I am moving to Perth with my husband and 2 kids in September 2005. Is there anyone in that area willing to correspond with me so that we wont feel quite so isolated when we arrive. I am a nurse ( who wont be practising when we arrive ) and very horsey. Hubby is a truck driver and boys very sporty. Am alternating between very scared and very excited, so any encouragment will be gratefully recieved. Thanks Pip

Have I missed something?..Is there a Perth in Canada?
I am getting more and more confused, maybe Willmore is right about the whisky?
Well Pip, good luck, wherever it is you're going, it must be jolly exciting!

I don't know of a Perth in Canada, and I certainly don't live there, but I can try encouragement anyway.
I'm not horsey or a truck driver and but I did see a horse and a truck today
My boys are sporty (and spotty if you typo'd) so I have some empathy.
I am scared and excited about immigration and that seems to be most common with prospective immigrants so I guess that makes us both normal or something! The question I keep asking myself is "Does it feel right?"
Anyway, I have a mild suspicion you want the Aussie section so good luck on there! The discussions here on Long Johns may not interest you........but then again

Plenty of tips on keeping warm on this forum to help you do cold. Anyway it can be better than doing hot. You can keep putting layers on but you have a limit to how much you can take off
Best of luck with your research and I really doubt if making friend will be a problem.

Pip!
I stand educated too
and am jolly glad you did mean Canada, and didn't just wander onto the wrong board
I'm a physio btw, and plan to be working in the Calgary area when we get there, this summer/fall if all goes well!
Me too.......excited and scared ****less! It'll be "this year!" any minute now!!
Are we doing the right thing? Its such a humungous thing to do, but we felt so right in Canada, I can't wait to get back.
Main fly in my ointment atm, is elderly parents. Dad started having cardiac arrythmias yesterday, and was going for an ECG today to see what's happening
We have 3 parents surviving, all early 80's. It's a big worry that we'll be leaving them in failing health, but for us and the boys, its the right time to go.
sigh.

Get them into snowboarding, they'll have a great time and you've got the skills to hand to repair the damage
Seriously ... I hope your Dad feels better ... it's stressful for parents when kids move away, not matter how old the kids are ...
