Hi, Does anybody know if guinea pigs can be brought to Canada when you move? Any advice re transporting them over would be great. Thanks.

We have a similar question about cats. We're looking to move to Calgary in June and need to know about taking our cat with us. How do we transport, is there a quarantine and is it ok to do this?

Rules and regulations regarding animal imports are covered (rather bizarrely) by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency. It would appear that guinea pigs may be brought in ..... http://www.inspection.gc.ca/english/.../rodente.shtml
Here is the page for animal imports for those who want to check rules for a specific animal: http://www.inspection.gc.ca/english/...rt/petse.shtml

We used Ladyhaye when we brought our parrots with us, I think they might specialise in more "ünusual" pets.
They have a good website that you can browse and they were very professional.
Good luck!

You can bring in Guinea Pigs - BUT only with BA or Air Canada - with specially made cages. You need to call the relevant cargo sections.
BA quoted £380 plus £65 for cage for 1 gerbil!
Ac were slightly less.

I know the British are supposed to be a nation of animal lovers ..... but will anyone seriously pay that much for their pet gerbil????
