Parcel shipping/receiving services in Point Roberts
#1
Hi just wondering if any of you in Vancouver or nearby have used the parcel shipping/receiving services in Point Roberts. If so, is there one that is any good for something fairly large?
What about paying for the goods you're ordering by credit card and the card address not matching the delivery address?
The supplier of what I want to buy will mail to a US physical address which this company seem to provide:
https://inoutparcel.com/
But there are a few different companies in Point Roberts.
Any views or things to be mindful off? Clearly I will pay duty when crossing back into Canada.
Thanks!

I have used that company many times in Pt. Roberts. Top notch and only fully automated place so you can pick up anytime. (although if its super huge and doesn't fit into a locker, you need to go at the staffed time.
You sign up, they give you a code to use which when ordering online you put like a unit number.
Once they receive it and process it in, they email you. They process parcels in quickly once received as well.
Border crossing there is easy, quick and because parcel pick up is so common on the point, they don't blink an eye when crossing.
Be prepared as always to pay duties and taxes, however in my experience they don't pull people in mass to pay taxes. 2 dozen or so times crossing there, never been pulled in to pay.
Some websites have trouble/refuse to process Canadian credit cards without a US billing address, but some Canadian banks will add on a secondary billing address and you can use the US address you get from the parcel place as your secondary increasing your chances the card will work.
If the merchant uses pay pal as an option to check out, it's easiest as pay pal doesn't care if the billing is in Canada and shipping to the US, Amazon doesn't care either.

Thank you JS you told me exactly what I needed to know!I was thinking of this actually as they charge over $200 to ship to Vancouver.

Thanks Siouxie, I couldn't see where the last company is based.
This was the original I looked at: it's too expensive:
Lovesac | Suede Bean Bag, Suede Bean Bag Chairs, Brown Bean Bag Chair
Which is the best one and value for money?!

They give you a special delivery address so that it doesn't look like a PO box number.
As for paying and credit cards, usually there are two sections when you buy stuff online, billing address and shipping address. I haven't had any issues with Amazon, ebay, car part websites etc.
The Canadian border guards aren't daft, they know that 99% of people who enter Point Roberts for less than 1hr are picking stuff up. Just be honest and pay the tax, (I didn't pay duty, just GST) it's not worth the headache to get your car searched and pay fines.

Therefore, I agree with DannyB...never think you can outwink the Canadian border security....admit everything and pay whatever they decide you owe. They don't look kindly (read punish) on those that think they can fool them.
There is a USPS in P.R. and I used to have a box there to receive mail and subscription magazines. It also receives and ships parcels.

Thanks all ... Having just obtained a Nexus card I'd always make sure I paid whatever duty I need to.
Good to know the company is well thought of.
