we can discuss the issue of racism until we are blue in the face. But it still is a factor that they stole the phone and ipod.
Would your kid do this?
do you know your kids well enough to really know if they would?
I have many black friends and they do not like to be classed as coloured! we are all coloured!
i remember in my sociology book once a verse about color.
this is it!
When I'm born I'm black.
When I'm cold I'm black.
When I'm in the sun I'm black.
When I'm sick I'm black.
When I die I'm black.
When you're born you're white.
When you're cold you're blue.
When you're in the sun you're red.
When you're sick you're green.
When you die you're purple.
Call me coloured?
this is not a racial thing at all. I was clearly stating the facts. It was a group of ten or more black youths.
I am sure if it was a group of British white males, i would be allowed to say it.
I am sorry but it is hard today as you feel you have to be so politically correct all the time. ridiculous really! we are what we are and we will be judge by the majority as we do!
When i went to school in a my small town. In my little school the biggest problem would be bullies! right?
They would be a group in the school that stood out like a soar thumb because of the actions they took and the choices they made. This is no different today only a bigger scale with race and gender involved.
How did we deal with it?
We stamped on it! parents took action bullies were segregated and eventually we all knew right from wrong.
it is just bullying on a larger scale and it needs addressing before we have major riots on our hands. These kids did not need this phone, they just did it for kicks! why? because it is out of hand and they are bored.
If we opened more youth centres would have a bigger drug problem, sad but true! that is what it would become.
I think it is a huge problem now and i wish i had the answer but i don't.
I think one of the biggest things that Toronto could do would be to introduce more camera's. This has a great success rate in Britain and it could prevent some of these types of crime. They would think twice before doing it.
We definatly need stiffer sentences for youths.
I remember my brother getting in trouble when he was a teenager and he was forced to work in a hospital for the sick and elderly. It actually did the trick! It completely opened his eyes and he got something back from this work.
The youth of today needs to be aware that they have to pay for crime and not that crime pays!
well do i ever feel better for that!

Sorry to hear about the robbery. I remember when I lived in London there was a big ad campaign by the police to warn people no to use their mobile phones on the tube and trains because mobile theft was one of the most common crimes in the city.
