Bovril or Loney powder.

Red plastic pots.

No doubt some will say it's not the same but it does the same job.

OXO Beef or Chicken sachets made by Knorr you should be able to get them at any major grocery stores, Safeway, Real Canadian Superstore etc.

Oh, but they're not the same!! Cubes have six equal sides, but that Canadian rubbish only has three sets of two equal sides!!! Ruins your stock that does.

We use the Knorr ones. Didn't like the taste of the OXO powder. If you want to pay for them, most British shops will sell the authentic ones.

The Knorr Stock sachets are quite acceptable, but try to get hold of the reduced salt ones as the regular are very salty and will ruin your dish.

These with a knorr stock cube does the trick, or double up with the sachets.

Maggi, Knor, etc etc. Im sure Ive had Oxo here too?

A stock cube is a stock cube is a stock cube if you ask me!

Just check the shelves where all the cook sauce saechets and gravy powders or near the spice selection, its not an exotic item to find here.

HOW DARE YOU!:curse: Shame on you

You are right though, but you are also wrong, with an OXO cube you don't have to add water if you just want a burst of flavour, same with the 1/2 flavour sachets, most other ones you have to add liquid.

My family feels useful by sending me OXO cubes

The is also this range of products that is becoming more available in grocery stores. We've definitely seen it on Vancouver Island so it should be available on the lower mainland.

We've mostly seen the Beef Base and the Chicken Base

OK, so that is one more thing to try to wedge into my suitcase......

I thought you weren't allowed to take anything containing meat products into Canada, though?
Can I take the vegetable stock cubes?

On a related issue, can I take dumpling mix?
Bearing in mind the well-documented and previously discussed absence of suet for baking in Canada and with winter stew season fast approaching, I am considering stuffing my boots in my suitcase with this to see us through the long dark nights.

I would be mortified to be busted for smuggling dumpling mix
It wouldn't do my reputation any good at all.

Mrs_P does too.

Suet dumplings would not be on any approved list for me, so suet free are great.

Could either / both ofyou PM me that recipe, please?
I would never get over the shame if Border control caught me.
I shudder to think of the headlines (and even more about the photos....)

You can buy suet, it's frozen lumps not shredded Atora type stuff, my Mum brought me some of that too.
