Re: Oxo cube equivelant??
Bovril or Loney powder.
Red plastic pots. No doubt some will say it's not the same but it does the same job. |
Re: Oxo cube equivelant??
OXO Beef or Chicken sachets made by Knorr you should be able to get them at any major grocery stores, Safeway, Real Canadian Superstore etc.

Re: Oxo cube equivelant??
We use the Knorr ones. Didn't like the taste of the OXO powder. If you want to pay for them, most British shops will sell the authentic ones.

Re: Oxo cube equivelant??
The Knorr Stock sachets are quite acceptable, but try to get hold of the reduced salt ones as the regular are very salty and will ruin your dish.

Re: Oxo cube equivelant??
Maggi, Knor, etc etc. Im sure Ive had Oxo here too?
A stock cube is a stock cube is a stock cube if you ask me! Just check the shelves where all the cook sauce saechets and gravy powders or near the spice selection, its not an exotic item to find here. |

You are right though, but you are also wrong, with an OXO cube you don't have to add water if you just want a burst of flavour, same with the 1/2 flavour sachets, most other ones you have to add liquid. My family feels useful by sending me OXO cubes;) |

Re: Oxo cube equivelant??
OK, so that is one more thing to try to wedge into my suitcase......
I thought you weren't allowed to take anything containing meat products into Canada, though? Can I take the vegetable stock cubes? On a related issue, can I take dumpling mix? Bearing in mind the well-documented and previously discussed absence of suet for baking in Canada and with winter stew season fast approaching, I am considering stuffing my boots in my suitcase with this to see us through the long dark nights. I would be mortified to be busted for smuggling dumpling mix:eek: It wouldn't do my reputation any good at all. |
Re: Oxo cube equivelant??
my oh makes perfectly fine suet free dumplins to be honest...
I was sceptical, but they were just fine. |

I was sceptical, but they were just fine. Suet dumplings would not be on any approved list for me, so suet free are great. |

I was sceptical, but they were just fine. I would never get over the shame if Border control caught me. I shudder to think of the headlines (and even more about the photos:eek:....) |
