I think it's a good idea. The self cleaning ones are ok but not as good as the man in the van. Window cleaning is also an excellent idea. I'm sure with reasonable prices it would catch on big time.

I think the van man did gas ovens. Not sure electric ones even come apart the same so they can take bits outside to clean as described.

If I had the $$ I would happily have a cleaner/maid/gardener/window cleaner. My oven does not seem to require cleaning. Maybe if I looked closer it might, but I won't.

My first husband had a side business as a window cleaner and it was cold (or extremely hot depending on the season) work for very little pay. Yes, they may charge a lot, but factor in your gas getting to jobs, advertising, supplies, insurance, and you're not actually making much at all.

Get someone to send you one of these from here. I used it a few weeks ago and it cleaned my oven like new. Leave it overnight and use a little bit of elbow grease the next morning. Job done:

Im pretty sure that window cleaning wouldnt cut it as I cant imagine its very practical in the winter. You would have to combine it with snow clearance or something to get a year round cash flow.

Thats so strange that they don't have that over there... the reason I would pay someone is I think because you can never get your oven how these guys get them... its like a brand new oven. I only do this twice a year or when I first move into a house or after it
The process is a man comes to your house in his van cleans your oven takes bits of your oven out to his van to clean using some eco friendly and caustic free cleaner and i think a pressure washer... so you don't have to deal with the fumes or mess etc...
The reason Im asking is because we were looking into a franchise and were thinking of maybe starting this up in Canada so I was looking online and couldn't see anyone who did this..

As others have said most have self cleaning ovens or a wife

And judging by the amount of people who say they are too busy picking up and dropping off children to a multitude of activities or busy hectic work schedule and have no time to cook then I assume many ovens dont get that dirty hence no cleaning or using the aerosol cleaning products.
