Hi all, need some help or advice please
I've recently applied under the Federal Skills program as a production manager, (I already qualify on the points system 71/100)
All of a sudden Ive now been told that because my role and experience of 22 yrs is not in argicultral i now no longer qualify, even though my current and previous jobs have covered all of the sub requirements of a canadain production manager. What can i do now, is there any other ways to get into Canada without firstly getting a job offer, as no one seems to want to sponsor you unless you have a work permit or are covered under the Federal Skills program

If anyone can give advice i would greatly appreciate it

Thanks in advance
Shane

Hi Shane, and welcome to the forum.

I'm very confused (admittedly, doesn't take much!) as to why you think you are no longer eligible.

Which NOC code were you applying under, who has told you you're not eligible, when did you apply and do you definitely do at least half of the main duties listed under the NOC code?

I'm assuming you're applying under NOC code 0811, and as stated in the title ('Primary Production Managers (Except Agriculture)') if you worked in agriculture you wouldn't qualify!

Chris
Wow that was a quick reply thank you
Yes you are correct i was applying under the NOC 0811, and yes i do at least 80% of the requirements in my day to day role as a Supply chain / Production Manager

Ive been told that i only qualify under 0911 Manufacturing Manager as none of my duties are in Argicultrual??

The company i was using was Global Visa's thay have now informed me that i will get a full refund

Should i try though someone else??

Hmmmmm. Global Visas have an awful reputation, and I think I can see why now!

It very clearly states in the title and description that NOC code 0811 is NOT for those working in agriculture, so how they think you need agricultural experience to qualify is beyond me.

There are only certain industries that qualify though (i.e. logging/forestry/mining/etc), as per the NOC code description, but if you think you definitely are eligible then I'd speak to them again.

If you've actually applied already, then I wouldn't let them give you a refund as you may miss out on your chance to reapply. As I'm sure you are aware, there is a quota of 1000 applications for each occupation (worldwide), and if that quota is reached there's no guaranted you'll be able to apply again as 0811 may be removed from the list before next year.

If you haven't yet applied, then maybe get a refund from GV and apply again asap? You can use another consultant if you wish (search the forum for recommendations), or you can just do it yourself as most on this forum do. If you do decide to do it yourself then it may be worth speaking to another consultant just to see if they think you are eligible or not first though to double check.

And lastly, there are lots of other options for emigration to Canada, over 50 routes to a visa in total of which FSW is only one. So don't worry if you don't qualify as a Skilled Worker after all!

Good luck.

I think on this occasion they are correct, even though as a production manager i cover 80% of the duties unfortuantly it is not in Mining, forestry or logging.

You are not the first to say that about Global Visa's maybe ive had a bit of luck there as i would have hated to get so far down the line for them to then screw things up.

I must have applied for about a hundred jobs all within the skills that i process with some interest until they learn that i don't have a Federal Skill's visa !! and they don't seem to want to go to the all the trouble of sponsoring someone.

With reguards to all the other types of options do you suggest looking at anywhere in perticular as there seems to be so much information that can at times be so confusiing

What industry is it in though, as there are others besides those three? Have you checked the description yourself to see if you think you are eligible or not? http://www5.hrsdc.gc.ca/NOC/English/...spx?val65=0811

Yes - the Wiki (on blue bar at top of page) which will help you get an idea of your options. Alternatively, most immigration consultants will do a free visa assessment for you to tell you what you'd be eligible for and which route they'd recommend for you (again, search the forum for recommendations).
