Hello everyone.
I've managed to obtain my open work visa for two years here in Ontario and at the same time got my social security number too. Thing is now I'm here I have zero idea how to proceed!
I'm a company director in the uk and have a extra provincial licence to trade here in Ontario but I also want to work to gather some income. I know I'm able to do both but I'm struggling to find advance online for tax implications.
Does anyone have any links or any professional bodies I can turn too? I want to make sure I get it right at the outset.
A,so any advice on doctors/dentist and generally the first things I should be doing now I'm here. I think my brain froze at the airport!
Thanks in advance

1) register for MSP now. There is usually a waiting period (3 months in BC) and this time starts from when you register not when you arrive. I don't think dentistry is covered by MSP but you need to check province by province.
2) Have you got your bank account set-up?
3) If applicable let HMRC know you are no longer living in the UK.
I am assuming you already have somewhere to live and don't need to worry about finding a job quick.

I've informed HMRC and I've kept my account informed back in the UK so I'm hoping finding a decent accountant here and working together I won't somehow make a mess!
Bank accounts I've not done yet. I was thinking RBC but I'll look at the forum and check if anyone has posted about better banks. Seems straight forward but I've discovered that Canada can be quite the country on red tape troubles.
Really appreciate you took the time to reply. Keep well.

If you've not already found it, there's a great 'to do after arriving' list in the Wiki.
HTH.
HTH.

I'll check that out now too.
