Here in Ontario, the minimum wage (I think they mean the minimum pay rate) goes up 75c at the end of March from $9.50 to $10.25 per hour for most jobs. However, as I feel it's highly unlikely employers already paying an employee earning $10.50 per hour a pay raise of the same amount at that time, it's just going to bring a larger number of low-paid employees closer to becoming minimum-wage labour. Those on Social Assistance won't see any increase either, as their additional income will be taken into account when the payments are made.
I don't have any idea how to improve the system, but it doesn't seem fair to me.

Anyone think it'll ever improve again? It's nearing pound to dollar exchange parity with the pound and the US Dollar, which it didn't do last time the canadian dollar and US dollar got close to one another.
I want to sell up in the UK and buy a place here, but OMG this exchange rate will be a killer.
