Hi there Scotty Boy
We are moving to the Okanagan Valley from South Africa. We will stay in Kelowna. I am an electrician and got a BC PNP sponsorship because I was offered a job there. Hope to receive our PR visas this week.
If you want to find out more about the Okanagan you must visit the Forum that they run there. Go to www.accessokanagan.com . My nickname on there is also einselec. I advised another member from this forum to visit accessokanagan and she fell in love with the site. They have moved there resently.
They have info on all the smaller communities around the valley and one of the administrators of the forum is a Scott!!!!!
Hope to see you there!!!

Hi Scotty Boy
We moved from the uk to penticton a year ago and love it there. it is quite a bit smaller than kelowna (pop about 35,000) but there is everything there. we are happy with the schools and the community as a whole. let me know if you need any more info.
good luck with the move

Hi
We moved to Kelowna back in June last year. There are a couple of families on here who are in Westbank, suggest you PM printer initially. If we can be of help re Kelowna in general, please let me know.
Good luck

You'll be fine in Kelowna, there's lots of British people and British food shops. Familiar accents, conversation about the weather, Coronation Street and soccer. Chip shops even, what more could you want ?
No need to integrate at all, everything's set up nicely for the British misfits.

Rutland can be a bit rough in places - I would personally avoid that bit.

North End & South Central too. Anywhere near to the Hein Road 'hood in Rutland. Most of the rest is crappy, the Mackenzie Bench area is sweet tho.
North End - around Coronation and that area. South Central - around Dehart and surrounding streets (not the Dehart close to Lakeshore/Pandosy, that's another one). Some of old Glenmore heading away from town along Glenmore Road is skanky.
Some parts of Westbank are skanky too.
Anywhere else in Kelowna is mostly ok but you may have dodgy redneck neighbours in a nice 'hood. Can be mix and match in older areas. e.g. Black Mountain is generally nice but there are some run down hillbilly areas.
As with all real estate, MLS helps get a feel but you really have to know the area and understand the pros/cons for transport, commuting, amenities, etc.
The problem with some people offering advice is they don't know much of anything apart from what they read in glossy brochures.
