Even if I had the letters today, it takes 2 to 6 months to get nominee approval.......if my LMO is not approved I'm out of luck. Bunac is an option for me because I'm under 30 but again, this takes time to arrange so won't be ready before my current visa expires....
Definitely get cracking with your PR. Something which might be of use to you is there is a new 'workers class' of PR so if you have 2 or more years of canadian work experience you can get a fast tracked nomination, takes 2 weeks according to my HR department!!

Not quite true - two weeks. A guy at Oh's work just applied and it took two months for med requests. We haven't been here two years though.
WHy do you need nominee approval- can't you just get fasttracked with arranged employment?

The two weeks is to get approval as a nominee (other work permit holders at the same company have achieved this), meds as I understand it are not required at that point. Once approved as a nominee you no longer need to apply for LMO's - that's the key! Having an employer willing to give you work is great but without the LMO it means nothing.
Without 2 years experience, 2 - 6 months is the guideline but without letters from all past employers where I have worked in an engineering capacity the process cannot even be started...
It's most likely in my case that I will just get my bunac visa (fingers crossed) and return once that is ready, in June hopefully.....

I'm sure there is a good reason but just wanted to check you were aware that there were possibly other options open to you!!

Hi christmasoompa.....I'm feeling guilty for hijacking this guys thread but the reason I haven't applied in Canada as a skilled worker is again because of the time it takes. I qualify on points but basically it boils down to the company I work for assuming that I would be approved on my LMO and now I'm short on options because of the timeframe I have to get everything arranged.
With the economy as it is, and since I work in a hard hit industry the employer has also openly admitted that even if my work permit was renewed there is no guarantee on how long they will be able to continue my employment. That's where I'm hoping a bunac visa will be of assistance since it's an open and flexible work permit unlike my current TWP. Once I have two years experience in Canada I will probably opt for PNP.........

Guy at OH's work couldn't get those letters- it didn't matter - he submitted some payslips as evidence.

That's really interesting re: the employment letters, I was told that without them they wouldn't even review my paperwork..........very odd...........
