no work permit = the plague

Well, you might get work ini Brandon at the Maple leaf plant.
They bring a lot of foreign workers into that job, but you might have to start on the cutting room floor, before moving into customer service

When they didnt attract Canadians, they imported Mexicans, the Mexicans didnt like it and went home, so now they are bringing in Chinese.

Does anyone have any tips on the best places to look for work in canada?I been applying for over a year now,i've come to canada to better my chances even and now even moved to Winnipeg.I've been handing out resumes and applying online like crazy, but the minute i mention i have no work permit yet,i get get turned away like the plague, even though i need a job offer to be able to apply for one in the first place.Im even applying for the bottom end jobs and fastfood cashier jobs and still nobody wants to touch me with a barge pole, even tho i past a few interviews with flying colours, the minute i say work permit, they say thanx and goodbye in the end. Please help

I highly doubt that you will get someone to hire you. For most employers it is illegal. I suggest that you go back and get a visa through BUNAC.
It would be the same for a Canadian in England. If we didn't have these rules anyone could come and take our jobs and we would all be fighting over 6 bucks an hour.
good luck

OK Bitch at me if you want, but another reason I say, commit and come on PR and if you dont qualify, further your education or marry someone who does!

No,I gave up trying from UK,i just booked a ticket for 6 months and Im staying with my girlfriend and her family in Winnipeg.i got good experience in customer service and im good at what i do but no qualifications as such tho.Im trying my very best to apply from within and not have to go back to UK at all.I am very lucky to have people to stay with, but i'd love to be able to work wherever i can while im here.
If your planning on staying be prepared for crap and shitty time. As you'll not find anything legal until you've done something to become legal. If you overstay you could end up screwing yourself the chance to marry and live here as well. So bite the bullet finish your holiday go home get a job marry the girl and find out how to apply for spousal sponorship.
Or become handy with a very sharp knife.

Freepress had a story today where Tim hortons are trying to get Phillipine workers over on 2 year contracts because they can't get workers to stay in rural areas. Get paper call them up and try to get in Now.
worst case it will buy you some time before you have to leave.

This isn't just for Philipino workers! This is how I am in Canada on a 2 year TWP. A few months ago I posted in another one of Kris_66's threads all about how I got my TWP through Timmies. Not sure if he took any of my advise though, or if they offer this in the area he lives in.

Oh that is such a shame. Any chance you can talk to the store owner again and explain the LMO process to him/her. Maybe you could go onto the CIC website, and get the paperwprk for the LMO and show them that it can be quite simple. Maybe offer to organise the paperwork for them??

So you've been posting on here since January - your girl friend and you moved from regina to winnipeg - When are you due to go back to the UK?
