We emigrated to Calgary a year ago and we're looking to buy a newfie dog. We had one in the UK so know what to expect. Does anyone have knowledge of good breeders in the area that you can recommend? We've had a look on the internet but its always good to get some first hand comments from those who have had experiences.

I can't recommend any.

Oh one of the members on the Chow forum has a goofie newfie (she calls him that). Lovely lovely dogs. Can't help with breeders though - hers was a rescue.

my mother in law used to breed cats so she might know of a newfie breeder in that area, or at very least have an idea of where to find one... ill see if i can dig up anything for you

Hi, one of my neighbours back in the uk has newfies and breeds them and I know she had some connection with Canada so I will try and find out some info from here.

I have just spoken to this contact Jackie Petrie (not Jan). She knows a Tubby Miller in Calgary (403-255-4842). He is not a breeder but does have newfies and may know of some local breeders or advise you.

Another contact is a Denise Casponquay from Maple Ridge, BC. She is a breeder of championship level newfies and her telephone number is 604-462-7231.
