Make bookings if you will, but make sure you can get full refunds.
Sadly, I fear you may be right. Removing all mandatory C19 mitigation measures in the face of the delta variant (which Bozza's incompetence let grow in the first place) is likely to accelerate the delta spike. The irony will be UK allowing expats to come in if vaxed but Canada then tightening restrictions on people coming from UK, meaning that travel is again not possible. I hope this wont be the case. I won't be booking flights yet though.

There's a glimmer of hope today for those fully vaccinated expats hoping for a trip back to the UK, Grant Shapps has agreed to look at it and will make an announcement in a couple of weeks:

For those of us who cannot get vaccinated - this is so unfair- we cannot go anywhere.

TIA
It seems that the FCWO advice remains unchanged.

Whenever this "couple of weeks" will be is totally unknown. Currently fully vaccinated Brits can't return to the UK quarantine and test free even if it's an approved vaccine and they are coming from a country with a way lower incidence rate.

Does have any idea when Canada will be added to the green list in the UK?

If you're in Canada the bigger concern must be that travel to the UK will mean no re-entry here. Ms. MooChops, late of this parish, has just gone to the UK and managed to have only one day of quarantine on arrival, so good timing in that direction, but she may well be trapped there.

Indeed. Travel to my mums 80th in Sept is looking unlikely.

I am working with people who are nominally resident in Canada, full time employees, who were outside Canada when covid struck who haven't been back for more than a year. I suppose I could go to the UK and be open to that happening but it's a bit unsafe as a contractor.

Does anyone have any experience with their family visiting them from the UK recently? With the low cases at the moment how strict is it with close family?

I'd suggest using the wizard to determine if your family member(s) qualify for entry.. https://travel.gc.ca/travel-covid/tr...s/wizard-start

The 'Based on your answers, you will likely be allowed to enter Canada; however, the final determination will be made by a government official at the port of entry.' still has me concerned paying $600 for a flight or so is such a risk.

Why is this a concern for a dual Canada/UK citizen? You are allowed to enter Canada quarantine free if fully vaccinated.

How long has that been the case?
