New UK Travel Rules

Re: New UK Travel Rules
The numbers of covid positive are increasing rapidly once again in areas of England and Scotland, and there are now the crowds for the soccer to be considered.
I would not be surprised to see lockdowns again, or other countries refusing to allow visitors from Britain.
I wouldn't get my hopes up for being able to make a visit, just as I, in the older age group, will not be getting my hopes too high about being able to travel within Canada to see my daughter and family come Christmas.
Make bookings if you will, but make sure you can get full refunds.

There's a glimmer of hope today for those fully vaccinated expats hoping for a trip back to the UK, Grant Shapps has agreed to look at it and will make an announcement in a couple of weeks:

For those of us who cannot get vaccinated - this is so unfair- we cannot go anywhere.

This morning's announcement in the UK regarding the quarantine requirements for amber list countries (for those fully vaccinated/children) looks like a big step towards getting UK family over to Canada for a visit (now that the FCO advice against travel to amber list countries will also be lifted from July 19th, allowing travel insurance to be valid once more).

Does have any idea when Canada will be added to the green list in the UK?

If you're in Canada the bigger concern must be that travel to the UK will mean no re-entry here. Ms. MooChops, late of this parish, has just gone to the UK and managed to have only one day of quarantine on arrival, so good timing in that direction, but she may well be trapped there.

I am working with people who are nominally resident in Canada, full time employees, who were outside Canada when covid struck who haven't been back for more than a year. I suppose I could go to the UK and be open to that happening but it's a bit unsafe as a contractor.

Does anyone have any experience with their family visiting them from the UK recently? With the low cases at the moment how strict is it with close family?

The 'Based on your answers, you will likely be allowed to enter Canada; however, the final determination will be made by a government official at the port of entry.' still has me concerned paying $600 for a flight or so is such a risk.
