Default New Glasgow again

I'm considering a short visit to NG from Moncton by bus. Arrival at Irving mainway, which I believe is by the Aberdeen Mall, would be around 12.20 with return departure at 4.05. Not long, I know, but that's all there is without staying overnight.

How long is the walk to 'downtown' and the bridge?

Would 3 &1/2 hours be enough to get some idea of geography - say between that Mall, downtown and over the bridge to Sobeys just to get an idea of what's around and how close together it is?

Or would it be better to get a cab from the mall to say Downtown, then walk over the bridge, maybe check out that area, perhaps get a cab to the other mall area and then return to get the bus back to Moncton?

I was thinking a walk from the mall to the bridge because I have been told the area is 'iffy' for homes, while some streets are okay.

Is there a bike hire place I could use just for that time?

I understand the West side is all good. Would someone be able to suggest which roads border good areas on the East side. Is Downtown a nice area to live in and if not which is the closest that's ok?

How about where Provost meets Trenton Rd - how long would that take to walk/cycle to Superstore?

Hi there,
So many questions but I will have a go at answering them.
1. The walk from the Irving garage to Downtown will take you around 15-20 minutes.
2.If you are prepared for a lot of walking, then I think 3 hours would give you a good idea as to where everything is.
3.As the day goes on you may to get a cab, it depends in how detailed you are making your trip.
4.I know of no bike hire places, but I have a car so I never needed such information.
5.There are no real bad areas in town, just different levels of nice. I think McKay or McClean street is the border between the North and South of the East side.
6. Yes the West side is the most sought after location and house prices reflect that. However there are some great house to be had all over town.
7.The walk from Trenton Road to Superstore would be a long one maybe 30minutes but on getting there you will pass by a Sobeys in the West Side Mall.
Hope this helps
Julie

Excellent, thanks. That's what I was hoping to hear.

Another advantage to the West side is having Sobeys AND Superstore on the same side. I slightly favour Superstore here but I'm regularly at both.

That journey on number 7 sounds about the greatest distance needed to get to Superstore and it sounds like it's not far on the bike - subject to hills.

Thanks again.
