Default Need help with hard drive - Bell receiver

Hi all,
So I have a basic understanding of technology, but need some help with this one please!

We upgraded our Bell receiver from a plain one to a HD one a few weeks ago. I asked the guy installing it about how we could watch TV and Skip the ads, he said instead of paying out for the top of the range recordable HD receiver, to use this basic HD receiver and attach a hard drive to it.

So far, so good.

So I got the hard drive, but it says it has software installed on it to load onto a computer. My question is - how do I set it up onto my Bell receiver, and how will it work, I presume using the remote control for the receiver?

Please help I am very confused!!

Thanks in advance,

When you attach it to the Bell receiver the Bell receiver will format it for use so anything on the external drive will be wiped anyway and it will have Bell stuff loaded on it.

Would you also need a FAT32 partition? Or does it work on any format?
