Well, you can, but you'd be on a visitor visa and not allowed to work. If you are a UK citizen, you'd be granted up to six months entry as a visitor.

Hi
perhaps I should have phrased my question better?
Can you just show up in Canada and as a visitor then find a job and then get a work visa etc?

Yes, but...........the only thing is that you're unlikely to find work and get the LMO sorted before the six months expires, so chances are you'd have to return to the UK anyway before getting a work permit.

But going over in person is the best possible way to find work, so maybe plan a trip over there, follow the hints/tips in the Job Hunting section of the Wiki on how to find work, and then keep fingers crossed.

Plus, I don't know what you do, but do check to see if you'd need to sit any kind of equivalency exam or have your qualifications recognised to work in your profession in Canada as that can take a while.

Yep. That's pretty good, most people haven't got a clue what he is as Welshies are so rare.

Thought so, takes a Welshie to spot a Welshie lol, I know someone who breeds them, apparently they are quite difficult and headstrong dogs.

Thankyou for all your replies. I think we may just go for it and see what happens, we have family in canada and also money for 6 months. If we dont, i think we may regret it..Also sometimes a chance needs to be taken and if thats what the employers are saying..I suppose it cant hurt. Yes its a risk, but i suppose getting out of bed in the morning also has a risk. Thanks once again.
