Where in Nova Scotia are you, as we are still deciding where to go to

Hello & welcome to the forum.

I was born in Dalry, Ayrshire, but moved away at a very young age (10 months) due to my fathers work. My mum still lives in the "Girdle" - Girdle Toll Nr Irvine. Spent most of my adult life around Carlisle & the North East (Whitley Bay) as my OH (Wife) is a Geordie. (And proud of it! - TOON TOON!)

Although we've only been here since June, we've settled in straight away, certainly no regrets!

You need to get yourselves across for a reccie trip - to see the different areas for yourself first hand! Shouldn't think you'll have a problem job wise.

Remember, you would be moving to "New Scotland" though!

All the best.

Digby's great (provided you don't live on a hill and out of the town centre - then you have biiiiiiiiig problems with snow and the lack of removal/salting!). Stores in Digby - there's a (small) Wal-Mart and (small) Canadian Tire as well as a good Sobeys and a good Atlantic Superstore. Yarmouth (an hour SW) isn't much better but does have a Zellers and a Staples. Greenwood (an hour NE) has a mall and bigger stores (there's a CFB in Greenwood, usually means bigger stores!). People round here tend to plan trips to 'the city' (Halifax - 2 hours 40 mins away). As one couple who moved back from Ontario told me, they like it that way because it means you have to plan your trip and it becomes more of a special event. My jury's out till I need something in the middle of a snowstorm!!!
There are some great little gift shops in Digby (some have opened specifically for Christmas) but it is pretty quiet now and some of the good restaurants are closed till May.
