Thanks for your help
I fly through Houston a couple of times a year on my way to deepest Louisiana. It's a long haul via Toronto to The Rock!

I suspect that your decision as to where you want to live will be as much driven by what's available to rent as in where you would ideally like to live. The rental market is very tight.

That being said, this would be a typical property in a nice enough area of CBS: http://www.realtor.ca/propertyDetail...Key=-247003415 The owner is a provincial MHA!

That house looks fab! Looks like you get more bang for your buck there than in Houston when it comes to renting.

Could anyone give me a clue as to what to expect the costs of the monthly utilities and sky tv eqivalent?

Many thanks again folks

Figure $300 a month for electric and or oil, depending upon how you heat.
$150 a month gets you TV, Internet and Phone. (Add $50 or so if you want sports and movie packages).

Thank you, again for your help. This has given us a really good heads up! It is now a case of playing the waiting game to see what and when regarding contracts!

No doubt Julie has gotten settled away now but in terms of places to look to rent I'm surprised no previous posters really picked up on other options other than CBS and Paradise. In particular the city itself has some stunning properties and offers a completely different quality of life than the commute to satellite towns and subdivisions, IMHO!
