i too am on the island. like Maddhobs ..in the cowichan valley.~

we have been here near a year after moving over from kelowna.

do we regret it...????

Sorry to but in on your thread, Firstly Hi all, I am a qulified electrician from the north of england, I am out next week on a fact finding mission. I am validating my PR visa and staying fo two weeks then heading back to blighty. If the feelings are right for me then I will be back in late august early sept to find work and a place to live, someone suggested the island, any thoughts on life on the island compaired to the mainland around Vancouver, also job opportunities for a english qualified electrician with 16 years experience in residencial and commercial electrics..

Hope you don't feel like I am intruding on your thread, just thought it would be easier to get a response from a similar question..

I'm no expert but don't you need your red seal to work as an electrician over here. Journeyman Electrician will have all the info and is very helpful. As for the Island, it is a great place to live. Where abouts are you going to be visiting when you are here.

we have friends in qualicum beach so we are staying there to start then depending on where we find work depends on where we will eventually be living

Hi, just thought I'd post this site as there are quite a few peeps heading here for recce trips ......... it has info special events but also links to the local papers & the 'city of Nanaimo' website if you're job hunting

(Funny to think of Nanaimo as 'cultural' tho!! )
