$73K is a decent wage out there but please reassure me he isn't a truck driver.

Sounds like your in a tough place right now. It also sounds as though you are happy in your life in England. To make a successful immigration you must both be in it 200% and then things can still go wrong, it's not an easy place to be at times. Good luck.

We moved to Regina Beach 5 years ago and had only been to Niagra Falls about 10 years before.
You have posters on this site who like to put Regina and Saskatchewan down. Yes Regina is vastly different than any other city, but I love it.
Not being able to drive is not an issue as the bus service is good, but you really need to drive if you live out of the city.
You also need to both be on the same page as immigrating is a big step if you are only half-hearted about it. But it sounds as if you had your mind made up anyway.
Good luck

Has he tried to persuade you to come with him? From what you've said it rather sounds like he doesn't care about what you think, feel or want. Would not be a good start in a new country.
Maybe an absolute clean break is what you both need, even if you didn't know it before?

I must say, $73K seems rather high for the job. Is he quite sure that that's what he'll be getting?

I can only go by the workings out on contract. Just think that what we are earning between us in UK gives us comfortable lifestyle, an wondering if will be the same out there. I know UK not best place to live but can think of worse places. Guess only time will tell.

There are those on here much better qualified than I am to comment on that. I was more thinking of the rather disgusting winter climate in Saskatchewan and the soul destroying nature of spending his time driving through a frozen wilderness for days on end.

So does the coldness come at a price we think heating costs here expensive roughly on our house gas an electric roughly $105 a month, how would that compare to a long cold winter?

We have a 1200sqft home and Gas is between $100 & $150 per month and electric is the same, in the winter in the summer it goes down to about $80 - $100 per month.

That seems more expensive than here but guess u have lot colder winter. $105 is our combined gas and electric. Then our water would be $52 a month.
