hey.. it`s not all flat in MB, thats just rumors and Winnipeg . We live close to the Riding Mountain National Park, have rolling hills here. Love winters here, so much to do. Only time it is ugly is when there is too much wind (which really, is not that many days of the winter).
..and sigh.. yeah.. mosquitos are bad this year...but with all the moisture we had, can`t expect much different.
Winnipeg and Brandon gets sprayed... we rest of us decides by themselves, how much chemicals are needed.

Can I apply under the Manitoba MPNP scheme, if I can get an employer who supports the scheme? http://www2.immigratemanitoba.com/br...igibility.html

Yes, if you get a job offer you can apply under several routes. Most employers won't be prepared to wait the year or so it'll take you to get PR, so most people with job offers go out on a Temp Work Permit first and then upgrade to PR either as a Skilled Worker (federal program) or the province's PNP (either Manitoba, or any other province as they all have PNP's).

Good luck!

can I ask what your job is? ..depending on the employability and if you are ready to live OUTSIDE (yup..there is life) there might be even a possibility w/o a job offer for the MPNP ..but it's really not for everyone ..communities need to support it, so you gotta make a good plea

Hi, My job is a Terrazzo flooring technician/Polisher etc. It is a very specialist trade here in the UK. I have had an email from the company concerned in Winnipeg and they do have full time positions available to me but have "no experience of the MPNP". That was there exact wording. They did ask me if I have a work permit or LMO? I have no experience in getting one of these or what I need to do to get one. This is all new to me

I'll try to explain:
You need to have a work permit of be a permanent resident to take up a job offer legally. In order to get one the job you are taking needs to have been approved by the government to ensure that by offering it to you a Canadian is not being overlooked. The company has to do some paperwork to show that they have advertised the job fairly and that no canadian wants it or is able to do it. This process is the same for work permit or pnp.

In terms of getting to canada the TWP route is quicker, once you have your labour market opinion (LMO) (above) you can apply for the permit and move to canada. If you take the nomination route you have to wait for this to be processed in manitoba, who will then send you a letter to support your work permit and you apply for this in the normal way. In my case the nomination took about 6 months, and then the TWP 10 weeks. The benefit of the nomination comes when applying for permanent residency as it speeds up the whole process.

does this make things clearer?

Hi, Thanks for responding Yes this makes things clearer! Although I am not sure what to do now? My partner has no idea either? The employer will want an answer. Should I ask them if they can do the LMO? We are a bit lost on which way to go with this.

I would be inclined to go with a TWP - they can last for up to 3 years, I think you can apply for the nomination when you are already in canada which can speed up your PR application. The company has to do the LMO whatever. There will be an office in Winnipeg that they can talk to I dont think its an overly lengthy process, and for them worthwhile if they cant fill a specialist job from the local labour market.

You should probably visit Winnipeg before deciding to live there as its quite different to somerset!

They need to apply for the LMO (it's not something that you can do). So as pp said, they need to prove they've advertised the job across Canada and been unable to find a Canadian to do it. The LMO can take up to six months, but once you have that you can then apply for a Temporary Work Permit which will authorise you to work for them.

A TWP isn't ideal, especially if you've got kids, as it ties you to that one employer and we've seen a lot of people on here have to return to the UK after being made redundant or similar, so it's much more risky than going on Permanent Residency. But, it's usually the only way to get over there if you need a job offer as it would be rare for a company to be prepared to wait for you to get PR.

So have a look at the HRSDC website for info about the LMO, find the application forms, and then hopefully you can talk the company through the process.

Good luck.

i'd say the best strategy would be to get the twp if poss and then apply via nominee program, so you get pr (and all the rights of a canadian, except the vote) soonish

My thoughts exactly. If the OP can get a TWP, then he can either apply for PR via PNP, or as a Skilled Worker, preferably as soon as possible.

Hi, Just sent a reply email back to the employer explaining what needs to happen and why. They have been advertising the job vacancies for over a month now on a major canadian job site. If I read correctly the job needs to be avertised for a minimun of 14 days to all of Canada on a major internet jobsite etc in order to be able to apply for a LMO for a foriegn worker.

I did not want to go through the TWP route but It could work out in the end?
I only have a house and good job to give up! (same for girlfriend)

If we could take it all with including our cars we would lol! NO kids yet as we are too young lol
The jobs are our only hessitation!

Just to check, you've said that you and your girlfriend only have a house to give up, but do you live together and have you done so for a year or more?

Well done, hope that you convince them to apply for LMO for you and you get it. As you're young, free and childless, a TWP will be a great way for you to get over there imo.
