We did, through PNP route.

When moving anywhere you need to define what you are trying to attain. then see if there is somewhere that fits your bill.

I am sure if you post up some of your expections some of us will be able to answer you query more accurately.

my husband is a cable layer (utillites) - have you contacted manitoba hydro the elctricity company they may have a web site with jobs

i am a aged care worker - have a look on the wrha website for jobs - there may be some links there in terms what education you need to work here

we have 5 sons - what ages?

i was wondering how long it took to get mpnp ? depends what stream you go down, if you do the employed route the job needs an LMO, which is what I did, timescale wise, to get pnp took about 4 months, then get work permit 6-8 weeks. once here pr in about 6 months

are there many jobs in Manitoba ? no idea unfortunately

if you have kids how did they settle ? kids did well (only 9+4) older kids can find it difficult, but i guess it depends on the kids

we have heard diff things about the place and i am doing research on it at the moment but it would be nice to get the info from some people that live there ? again it depends what you want, winnipeg has lots of positives, but it's not a pretty place. there are lots of things to keep the kids happy. shopping is not good, not so much choice generally, but something of everything. Travel out of winnipeg, is not easy, almost no where is accessible directly and its expensive. For instance I priced up flights to chicago the other week and it was cheaper to go from london than winnipeg.

and also to knew what the local areas is like. There are some nice neighbourhoods, but downtown is dire, and should be avoided.

thank you
hope this helps

Ok - Lets say you get Somewhere then what

Houses look on Mls for a house that is affordable and big enough for you - Then if you find some, look to see if you have much choice. Winnipeg has lots of large family houses.

5 sons ages? - Interests - young enough to get in to hockey bring Cheque book. Soccer lots of choices, theatre ballet music everything is available and all in the max 30-40 minute driving.
Schools what types are you looking for ?

Are you into country living or town living ?

School system
-- smart aged advance
-- not getting it ok try again this year.
-- Brilliant and hard working become a rhodes scholar you wouldn't be the 1st from Winnipeg.
There is no pressure to move ahead of your abilities and no holding back because of age.

Out of Winnipeg \ Brandon a 20 minute drive sounds easy but 20 minutes + 20-30 minutes to get around in town starts to add up if your doing it for 5 team sports.

Basically - we went for housing - schooling - after school activities - work.

Not rich just comfortable if we both work - 4 kids 1 boy 3 girls.

Want to PM ok or discuss in forum the please do.
With talking to people they might say things like Winnipeg is great or rubbish but it will depend on them, which neighbourhood they are in, who the associate with, their need for non-immediate family contact.

If you do a search on these forums for "Winnipeg" lots of links should come up.

We choose Winnipeg as its a lot like living in a village where we are in Charleswood, with all the advantages of a major City a 5-30 minute drive away.

Lets just say its advantages out weigh its disadvantages.
