Mail redirection - more than 2 years?
#1
Can anyone help?
We've been having our mail redirected from the UK to Canada since January 2005. Royal Mail will only let you redirect for a maximum of 2 years - this date is fast approaching...
What I was interested to hear is whether anyone's been able to redirect for longer than the 2 years?
Cheers

One way around the redirection problem is to inform all agencies, friends and anyone who writes to you of your new address.!!
We have all our bank statements, endowment policy updates, even BEANO annual subscription sent to us and all our friends know our current address and send everything direct.
Hope this assists.

I know, I found it odd too when we moved here. First couple of months, the ex-tennants (not the ones prior to our move, the ones before that!) would drop by every couple of weeks and collect their post.
We were warned about this prior to moving in by our landlord. They just stopped coming around after about 3 months... so at first we were posting the mail "Not At This Address RTS" for about a year or two, now it just goes into the bin as can't be bothered spending that much time & effort RTS'ing their post & going up to the post box.
Don't think its all junk mail, some of the envelopes seem to be coming from banks/credit card companies & even had one from the DSS for them!
Some people eh?

I thought I'd managed it last month but nope, another 65 GBP in my account when I looked recently

In a perfect world, I might just tempt them by sending them a "Final Letter" stating the dates you have written to them to advise of the change in address/circumstances in point form. Then continue that if they dont update their records/your info & confirm its been done in writing, that you will take that to mean they don't want their money back & you will keep it and put it towards your childs education.
You could always add that your child needs the education so that they can get into politics and one day fire the staff working at these peoples offices

With all the change in the size of postal packaging,Our friendly postman has just told us that when we move to Canada and do a postal redirection anything that is A4 sized is not covered and will not be forwarded!!! and that is regardless of whether it is advertising or not. I think it may be worth asking your buyers to pass it to your friendly neighbours and ask them to forward all relevant looking post, it will probably work out cheaper than a redirection, and then your friends can decide whether it is advertising or genuine post!
