I have flown all the cheap airlines and Air Transat is the only one that charged and I was only 2 kg's over one way. There limit is 23kg's.
At Gatwick and Toronto they have a special desk to accept payments. I would near enough say you would have to pay for anything over.
You really get what you pay for with Air Transat. Cheap but not cheerful.

Our only reason for choosing them was because we are taking dogs and that seemed to be the best option. I'll see what they say about the allowances and try and argue the point. I know the website says 23 but the tickets defintely say 20. Even at 23 we are going to be so much over.

Wouldn't want to say what Air Transat would do.
When hubby went in Feb on his one way trip on Zoom he was about 7kg over weight for premium and they didn't bat an eyelid - no extra charges.
However, I am going in May and Canadian Affair have rung to offer me premium service and when I refused have already warned me they charge £6 per kg for excess baggage.

Canadian Affair made us stump up for our extra weight when we emigrated. We should have upgraded!

:curse:
No let up eh !

Yes they did the same to us and I wish we had upgraded now because we paid for it anyway with all the excess lb's. Having said that everything else was great including the food, and I normally hate plane food.

Upgrade Burtie hun it's much nicer - but we did and still had to pay that ridiculous amount.... ok so it was winter when we came and things were heavy but well, I survived with only 5 pairs of footware for this!! LOL

They rung me up and told me that the flight going out was very busy economy BUT they had plenty of premium and would we like to upgrade £139 each way - Not a chance had they said £50 return then I might have said yes

We've been told our allowance is 20 kg - what have they told you?
#29
Yeah ours in 20kg for Economy and if we upgrade it would be 30kg. If we get charged for excess it is I think £6 per KG so even if we are 10 kg over it would only be £60 each way for the excess.
Bit hard to decide what to do when am taking the kids and at least 1 of them will be staying there for good
