Hello and welcome to BE!

As your questions are general rather than immigration specific, I have moved your post to the main Canada forum.

The first thing you need to work out is how to get either a work permit or become a Permanent Resident (if you aren't already).

I would suggest making a cuppa and having a good read of the wiki, then come back and ask more questions.

I would bear in mind that agents/consultants are quite expensive and many of the users of this forum can vouch that the forum filling can be easily done by yourself. As siouxie mentioned have a read through the wiki as there are over 50 visa routes into Canada. It would be an idea to give an idea to the other forum users as to what job you have and what job your OH does and what area in Canada you would like to move to.

The money you will need, schools, etc. are all unanswerable at the moment. Canada is a huge place and the cost of living in the Maritimes is different from the cost of living in Toronto, which is different from the cost of living in Vancouver.

And education is administered by the provinces so schools vary by location.

I would say some provinces are better than others for truck driving, there are a few forum members who are in this line of work and so should be able to give you a better overview regards your role in Canada.

A rough price is kind of like asking how long is piece of string, which province do want to live in, how old are your children and will they want to do after school activities?

Want standard of living are you and your family use to ?

I am no expert but I believe that with a lot of trades that you will need to go through Canadian certification on top of any licenses and certificates you hold in the UK. I'd recommend you have a look over the wiki

Not sure how much trucking there is in Toronto I assumed it was an IT and financial services place.

I could be corrected by others on the forum but school does not start till they are 5, so they will be in daycare which can be expensive and differs in cost per province.

In Toronto, you'd have no route to Permanent Residency as a trucker, so you may want to look at other provinces that have ways to get PR under their PNP such as Manitoba or Alberta.

Re: moving costs, this thread may help - http://britishexpats.com/forum/showthread.php?t=735341

Best of luck.

I came over as a truck driver in 2011, but my wife and I had been over in 1998/99 skiing so we knew we wanted to co e to Alberta. Have you been over on a research trip yet?

in all seriousness...

has someone told you (or have you read) that "Canada" needs HGV drivers and then you decided to come on here and ask your question without thinking anything through or doing any research at all?

because that's what it sounds like...
