Im a truck driver came over to Winnipeg from Scotland in 2007,my advice to you is to come here alone ,leave your wife an kids in UK for a yr at least ,your wife wont be able to work for a year even if you have a work visa,its less stress and you will need 10,000 pounds at least,you will have to pay for driving school ,accomadation etc,then you will be on long haul away for up to 10 days at a time.

Not necessarily, in some provinces she'd be able to get a Spousal Open Work permit as soon as she arrives.

Off the top of my head I think it's AB & BC. You can check it yourself on the CIC website though.
