Hi, my wife and I are looking to emigrate to BC with our 2 children aged 8 and 6. We are looking at living in the lower mainland region around Vancouver or possibly Kelowna. We are both Paramedics in the UK and would like to continue working as such once in Canada. Anyone have any advice for us please.

Was there something specific you wanted advice on? Visas, cost of living, jobs, getting licensed to work in Canada etc?
If you have questions then do ask as somebody will always try and help, in the meantime start with the Wiki and have a good read if that over a cuppa. A forum search would also be useful, I know paramedics have to jump through all sorts of hoops to work in Canada, but not sure what they are - other threads will no doubt tell you more though.
Best of luck.

This might be of use, regarding Paramedic certification in BC.
Out-of-Province Applicants - Province of British Columbia
"International Applicants
If you are licensed or registered outside of Canada and want to get an EMA licence in B.C., you must have your training and experience reviewed by the EMA Licensing Branch"
Details are within the link.

Anyone know whether my UK qualification would get me a full time ACP position or only a part time PCP position with BCAS. I am an IHCD paramedic team leader so have done a bronze incident commander course.

Hi you can look up First aid and some paramedic things on St.John's Ambulance in Canada. They're really good at emailing about queries too. As my first aid level 2 from the UK didn't compare to Canada's in depth courses and it is different courses in BC and Alberta. You're way above my qualifications though but maybe they could give you some insight. I'm in Kamloops, 90 mins from Kelowna. I prefer Kelowna as it's prettier and on the stunning lake but a very busy town.
