I'm rather sorry you thought that sexist. I suppose it is, I mean, a lovely young boy, however willing would not get me to keep horses, but it's not the case that "domestic partner" is a position subject to legislation. I may be guilty of ageism and am certainly guilty of all sorts of perversions but, as the father of myriad educated womenfolk, I rather pride myself on not being sexist.

Ack! Never mind the grammar, I'll answer anyway. We have horses because my partner likes to have them. It's worth the cost and aggravation of horse keeping to me to live with a sexually aggressive twenty something who loves to cook; it's an old man's fantasy come true. Nonetheless, I like to ride and I rode much more when we rented horses. My advice, and it's common advice here www.chronicleforums.com is that, if what you care about is riding, and especially if you what you care about is competitive riding, rent the horse. That way you can spend the cost of the tractor on coaching.
And I take issue with the idea that an old man's fantasy is a sexually aggressive 20 something (although the cooking is good).
I'm thinking more along the lines of.....
<OK aggressive 20 somethings might be nice>
