1.how much are cds compared with uk prices
2.is the beer in canada as low in alcohol(and flavour) as the usa
3.is rugby covered on tv out there

and one for me:can I get Enders,Corrie etc on tv/satalite out there

Prioritise... believe me when you spend months and months researching your relocation to Canada the little silly and frivolous things like the above seem much more appealing to look up then flights, accommodation, pet transporters, jobs... lol

1. Cds are between 12 CAD to 18 CAD depending on store, artist and record company. I bought Cds in HMV in Windsor, ON last summer and they cost about 7.00 GBP - Mika, Maroon 5.

2. Canadian beer is good! Better than American by far. Sleemens is my brand.

3. Not sure about Rugby.

4. Eastenders is not shown in Canada. Coronation Street is shown on the CBC but is behind by months..? You may be able to get Eastenders via illegal download.

I will miss the beeb but not much else. I really like HGTV and there is always BBC Canada so I am happy

CD's range between $10-$15

Beer is on average stronger than US and UK beer, most middle of range brands are 5%, Uk average is 4.1%

Rugby is hard to get, it is available thru Setanta sports but is expensive, ESPN has a weekly rugby show which pretty much rounds up the scores

Sadly Corrie is on most nights with an omnibus on a Sunday Morning, and Eastenders is on BBC Canada most nights also but is years behind apparantly.

Thats good to hear they are cheaper in NS. Maybe HMV are more expensive or is it the GST in Ontario is higher than NS?

I would guess it's a bit of both.

Eastenders is on BBC Canada

I didn't know Eastenders was shown on BBC Canada. Anyway - it is so depressing at least Corrie is a good laugh!

Don't take this wrong - but if you are so concerned with these three silly things, you are better off to stay in the UK.

Canadian beer has the same alcohol content as US beer, the method used for the calculation differs so it appears as 4% on US bottles and 5% on Canadian ones.

But if you goto the liquire store all different beers can be bought anyway.
i suppose it depends on the area you are off to

We bought tetley bitter wit no probs, hubby advises that guiness and mackeys could be bought as well
TV saw corrie on the local telly, but didnt really miss it on our recci, but i dont watch it much here, but if you do a search on here im sure that you can jump your ip address so that you can watch online if its really important to you.

i find that to many people are talking to each other than watchng telly

From what I have seen - Corrie is about 9 months behind UK, but is shown every night through the week. Eastenders at least a year behind - more like 18 months?

And here is me stressing about transferring money across, goods to follow and whether I will ever find a job out there...

I have to admit, hubby did start researching "silly" things such as what TV would be available and if he could get to watch football over there - I just rolled by eyeballs at him. Not like lack of football would stop him from going, though.

Anyway, no answer to your questions, but thanks for bringing some laughter and relief to my stressful planning day.

I hardly think the availability of beer is a trivial matter.

Interesting.
Canadians rely on the fact that Americans don't appreciate this either, otherwise there'd be no fun in taking the piss out of American beer.

US brands sold - or indeed brewed - in the UK (and for that matter across the EU) are required by law to quote abv rather than w/w, so for those still in Blighty you can compare like with like.

May I correct you on this point - Eastenders is shown on one of the channels but you will find that it is about 2 years behind - Den Watts has just been killed Corrie is approx 8 months behind Tracy Barlow has only just in the last month or so been sent to prison for killing Charlie

I will miss the beeb but not much else. I really like HGTV and there is always BBC Canada so I am happy
BBC Canada is a good channel to add to your package as you do get some programmes - Gord Ramsey for sure. What is missing here are the really good BBC Dramas that they do know where on Canadian TV have I seen good drama.
