Oh btw, when and what channel is this show on? Do I need to have cable?

CBC, so probably not. I think Wed at 8 will be the "regular" slot, but they are pushing it so hard there are probably bits on what dbd refers to as the "interweb thingy".

Thank you. I'm surprised to hear that we need a second dog for this but apparently it's essential.

We survive in the stick dogless, but perhaps we have overcompensted with our cats and all the local wildlife that hangs around (probably because we dont have dogs to chase it away!)

**** me, is this comment in the Globe and Mail Q&A with the creator of the show for real?:scared:

"Fred Smuts from St Johns Canada writes:

How much are you paid by Al Qaida to produce your show to try to soften up the Canadian public for an attack? The idea is to reduce our suspicion of these lovely humourous Moslems so thay can do their worst. Does the young Ontario man who wanted to behead the Prime Minister have a part in the show? Next time a Moslem buys a ton of nitrogen fertilizer, it's supposed to be a big joke. Right?"

And people say Canadians don't have a sense of humour.

That sounds like a typical Canadian in plaid to me. Most weekends I get to hear a member of the council in Schomberg fulminate about keeping the queers and terrorists out of town (like there's a queue of brown skinned shirtlifters on highway 427). I think there's massive bigotry in most of Canada and that the radio person in Little Mosque reasonably represents the membership of the Conservative Party. Still I confess, we're much looking forward to getting away from all the spitting here so we're not that accepting of the multiculture ourselves.

The show was more than a bit over-hyped prior to airing and I was losing interest after about 20 minutes, but it managed to rescue itself for me towards the end as characters started to develop (a little). I'm reserving judgement, but I intend to watch the next episode if I'm not elsewhere next Wednesday. One thumb up.

Yes, It did seem unlikely to me that even the biggest frothing canadian looney would think the CBC had that much influence over canadian opinion any more!

Anyone else enjoy this show?

I found the show mildly amusing and will watch a second episode.

However it is going to have to improve significantly in order to make me a regular viewer

Yeah, it's not Seinfeld or AbFab by any means but, for a local production, I thought it pretty good. I smiled once. The OH laughed twice. I reckon there are three or four episodes in it.

There's no preparing yourself for just how bad the TV here actually is, so Little House is definitely welcome. I think it's really good...for a Canadian production. On a positive note we barely watch any telly now as it's so tediously bad. I would rather gnaw my own feet off and beat myself around the head with them for an hour than sit and watch another episode of regis & kelly or the antiques bastard roadshow!

I missed it. I think I read the writer grew up in Britain? Has she adapted the Indian jokes from Goodness Gracious Me, or is it original?

Yesterday I cancelled the satellite service and the woman asked why, I said the content was poor and she tried to sell me another package, I couldn't remember the last program I'd watched to the end on satellite TV. We do make good use of the zip.ca subscription though (zip is the local version of netflix) and we get the news on rabbit ears which offer a better picture and less disruptions.

It owes a lot to that show. Also to Mind Your Language and Allo Allo.

It wasn't bad. The jokes were a bit predictable, but it was better than I was expecting for a CBC effort at sitcoms. I'll watch another episode or two to see how it turns out. I'm hoping they mention how a somewhat substantial group of Muslims ended up in small-town Saskatchewan in the first place.
