Has anyone else had this issue.
I exchanged my UK licence for a BC one last year. They took my UK one as "You can not hold both a UK and BC licence"
Currently in Canada with BC licence but the DVLA back home have sent a letter to my UK address stating " Your UK licence runs out on the 10 May 2012 at midnight." and then threatening a fine of $1000 if i do not renew it."
The reason it is running out is that the photo is over 10 years old now.
So my question is: If i renew it an get the UK licence will the BC one be valid?
Thanks everyone.

Even if i was in the UK what if i decided to give up driving they couldnt force me to update it.
If they had said "You will be fined £1000 if caught driving on an old licence" then that would make more sense.

If ICBC took your old license then DVLA will get it back anyway. Have not renewed my UK license in 20 years and never been a problem. If you are in Canada and have a valid BC license, what's the issue? Even driving in the UK you are licensed on a BC license as a resident of Canada. Unless you plan on moving back in the near future, cannot see a reason to renew it. DVLA won't issue a UK license to a foreign address and if you get one sent to a UK address, having moved overseas, that may be an offence as well.

It's just an administrative cockup, just contact them and tell them about it.
