Question Language Ability for Citizenship

The CIC website has recently announced that adults between 18 & 54 applying for citizenship will be required to provide proof of language abilities in either English or French for applications received on or after 1 Nov 2012. As far as I can recall this is a new requirement as proof of language ability wasn't previously required for a citizenship application.

One of the acceptable documents is 'proof of completion of secondary or post secondary education program in French or English'. Does anyone know whether this means:
- a program where the subject taught was English, or
- a program where the language used was English, but the subject taught was something else (eg Business Studies)
I ask as I have Business Studies degree from a UK institution where the language of instruction was English and I need to know if my degree certificate will be sufficient proof. I'll need to take an English test otherwise which seems rather excessive as English is my native tongue.

Many thanks - Y

No, a quick interview with the member of staff involved is usually sufficient for a native English speaker.

Looks like sending in your , CSE, GCSE or A level certificates from High School will suffice for CIC as long as you passed in English

I wonder what they would consider a "pass"? Any mark so long as it's not a fail, or the usual "C" or above?

I would have thought the pass mark would be irrelevant, more relevant would be the completion of High School education in an English speaking school. Maybe?

I wonder what they'd make of me, if I still needed to apply. I've got degrees from both the UK and France. I should probably be GG.

Not to mention the ink used and paper required. It maybe beyond reach for a few now, ehh?
