Ever find our English language is totally wasted over here?
I referred to someone having a nice lunchbox - well, he did - he brought his lunch in a little black bag with "lunch" printed on it - and me having my sense of humour thought it would raise a laugh- WRONG!! - I just got blank looks. When I explained the meaning one woman nearly fell off her chair in disgust....oh, how I miss English humour!

It's good to experience different humour styles though. I'm looking forward to all the faux pas I can get away with.
Such as the post titled: Beaver - Yup, this one will run and run with me come August. Anyone had their's stuffed recently......?

Oh it is totally lost on so many people here! And then you have to explain you are just joking because they either look totally blank or really offended.

After everything you say "Brackets Humour". Problem solved. The really irritating ones will get irritated by that and won't talk to you any more. Another problem solved.

That's the problem though - I think there has been a Sense of Humour bypass with most of the Canucks in this area!

Yes my wife has commented that there is no smutty conversation and innuendo in her Canadian Office compared to a similar environment in the UK.

Don't you find they all take themselves so seriously? Hubby and I were working a temporary job a few weeks ago - where the "lunch box" thing took place - and we were frowned at for laughing and enjoying ourselves! Obviously you're There To Work, not Have Fun!!

Though I must say we get as much innuendo as you could wish for (and more sometimes) amongst certain of my "Sweet Adelines" pals!!!
That's where I heard the joke about the ketchup bottle from our venerated section leader!
(Sorry ladies, if you don't know it ..... it's kind of a visual joke!)........
Made my poor DH squirm though, when I told him!
