Landing (PR Visas) - How long does it take?
Hi,
looking to book flights for travelling next month and wanting to book onward flight after "landing" at either Vancouver or Calgary. Can anyone advise on how long to leave for the landing process (PR status) at either of these airports. Any does anyone have thoughts on which airport would be quicker/easier. Cheers, Roy :) |

So you clear immigration and collect your baggage at every international airport in Canada BEFORE you get a connecting flight? |

So if the OP is landing in Vancouver and then taking an internal flight to whereever, he will need to clear immigration & thus 'land' for purposes of PR at Vancouver. Hence his question about the time this takes. AX |

So f'rexample if you are flying to Halifax on AC861 which lands in St. John's NL first you have to clear immigration/customs, pick up your bags, deposit them back with AC, wait around for 45 mins and then get back on the same plane for the leg to Halifax.

AX - help :D (He knows way more about this than I do :o ) I'm not denying the booting off the plane, but that isnt actually 'landing' for PR purposes is it ;) . All I'm saying is you SHOULD be able to actually become a landed immigrant ANYWHERE that there is an immigration official. We flew into Toronto, but didn't actually become landed immigrants until we'd driven to Sask. |
