There is a truckers section of the website here ... http://britishexpats.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=118
As you are only 23 you are eligible for a working holiday visa. This might be the way to go: get over to Canada with the ability to work straight away, then persuade an employer to help you with a more permanent visa.

Check out the IEC programme and threads on this site by using the wiki or search function. Bad new is IEC for this year quota has been met so you will have to wait for the 2013 programme to open up.

There's also a Wiki article on trucking that may be useful reading - http://britishexpats.com/wiki/Truck_Driving_in_Canada Do also look at your thread from last year, not sure if you saw the responses as you didn't come back to it, but there's good info in there too - http://britishexpats.com/forum/showthread.php?t=704555
Not sure why you think the UK is 'a joke nowadays', but don't expect the same problems to not exist in Canada! Have a read of the Moving Back to the UK sub-forum to see why people choose to return to the UK from Canada.
IEC would be your best bet as has been said, give you a year over there with an open work permit, as at 23 you may find you don't have enough experience to be sponsored by a company. And the program reopens in Jan, so plenty of time to save up some money to move.
Best of luck.

I cant comment on trucking but dont move to escape problems, there are problems here too. Sometimes those problems drive me insane other times I dont care either way.
We came as we wanted to live here, we did want to leave the UK too but I thinks it important to have an equal pull factor.
Just my two cents worth

Thanks for the info everyone just to add in the uk being a joke is t the onli reason I'm leaving actually been to Canada before with the British military and loved every minute of being there and was there for about 2 years all in that's why decided to go to Canada instead of the likes of Australia or new Zealand was planning on moving last year but certain personal problems prevented it though everything is good now so jus gotta go for it :-)
