In the event anyone is interested, there is an advert in today's paper for IT jobs in Alberta.

I don't understand why they're interviewing in Toronto for jobs based in Alberta. 
Wouldn't it have made more sense to do the interviews in, oh say, Edmonton for example?

I imagine they're advertising in all the major cities and holding interviews in them also. If you are in Canada check your local newspaper(s).
